Cloudy orange, with a foamy, eggshell head. Aroma is bready, buttery, with some herbal notes. Nicely tart at first, then some bready undertones. Vegetal notes pop up - green pepper, maybe? - as well as s ome smokey and winey notes. Pleasent notes of honey emerge as it warms.

Bottle courtesy of JHop: Poured a red/brown color with a big light tan head. Aroma was floral, some spice, a little sour funk to it, some maltiness with a touch of alcoholic sweetness. Flavor was sweet and malty, with a bit of spiceness from the yeast, and it was a little tart on the finish. Pretty solid beer, I just hate that I’m only getting to try Heavyweight after they are closed.

Heavy, solid 750 ml bottle from Stateline Liquors in Elkton, MD (Apr 2006), consumed at cellar temperature very late at night from a Chouffe tulip glass. Should I drink this? Heavyweight is dead....a brewery I was only beginning to know, and appreciate for their marvelous experimentation....I am already more than a bit buzzed from an earlier party, but my mental faculties are energized and full of energy...why the hell not? Pours very dark, amber-copper and hazy with a thick, lasting very creamy, spongy off-white head....nose is really not all that "spicy" as promised, but there are nice earthy, bready, caramel wafts that certainly inspire some desire to drink....as it warms a bit, yes, there are some spicy-herbal components, but never are they overpowering....the body is creamy, luscious even, oh so relaxed and smooth and joyous to drink, and within it are contained some lovely herbal components, vanilla and rosemary and touches of white pepper....moderately sweet and thickly malty at the front, this does dry out a bit towards the finish, with light acidity and sour funkiness appearing at the last to give some power to an otherwise soft, though supremely supple and enjoyable beast. Like the others in this series, not quite a masterpiece on one try but memorable and a worthy effort. RIP HEAVYWEIGHT.

This one completes the 4 OTOP SDLSs for me. The pour is turbid dull orangy with a 3-finger off-white head. The aroma is biscuity malty, with some spicy florals, barnyard, honey, and fruit. The flavor is floral and spicy up front, with a solid caramel malty base exuding itself at mid-palate, followed up by some barnyardy cobwebby honey, apricots, and black pepper. Medium, lively, smooth palate.

Floral aroma with some dough-like yeast and peach notes. Light sweetness, bready malts, hints of corriander and pepper. Finishes with some earthy yeasty notes and a soft mouthfeel. Nice stuff. Thanks rudolf.
