Poured into a goblet, this beer is a cloudy peach color with only a sparse ring of bubbles which resemble a head. Though I was not expecting much to delight me, a sniff revealed a surprisingly pleasing aroma. This is tart, dare I say, sour with hints of white wine, vinegar, oak, and obviously pomegranate. The palate is slick, carrying a tart flavor which becomes juicier towards the finish. It’s a wildly fruity beer with a nice tartness. The barrel aging has infused a mild, tasteful presence of straight up wood. Yes, this is a fairly nuanced beer, but pomegranate remains the focus.
