22oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Pours dark red with a thin beige head. Smells of toffee, nuts, and grass. The flavor starts sweet and fruity followed by a blast of intense bitterness. Has notes of nuts, grapefruit, caramel, grass, and a touch of chocolate. Alcohol is somewhat harsh and mouthfeel is somewhat syrupy. I think this one might be a bit past its prime but it doesn’t taste like it was really awesome to begin with.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a dark golden amber with a very thin off-white head. Very pleasant aroma of malt, rye grain, caramel and overripe oranges. The flavor is stronger in the grain elements and less fruity than the aroma with more of the rye particularly noticeable. Medium bitterness at the finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Very solid beer.

On tap at Rattle N Hum (Cask)
Appearance: slightly hazed black tea look , minimal head , low carbonation.
Nose: brown malts sweet , honey leafy feel , malts noted with time.7+
Flavor/Palate : Good , sharp bitter up front with good mid balanced malts. Caramel with hop on top. Soft big brother. Another dangerously drinkable brew from Schmaltz.

Location: Draft rating from Capitol Ale House - Innsbrook, I don’t seem to have a date, but this rating is probably at least a year old.

Overall Impression: Assuming this is the same beer I had on draft at the Capitol Ale House in Glen Allen, VA (they called it the HeBrew Lenny Bruce RIPA) it was and excellent beer with a nice combination of flavors.

Bottle. Very surprised that I haven;t had this one before. Pours a hazy auburn with a fluffy, tan head. Good retention and lace. Aroma of hops (indistinguishable), rye, rye bread, caramel, very faint dark fruits and mild brandy type thing going on. Taste is malty and caramely, with dark fruits and rye spiciness. Hops are not very up front, but there is some lingering bitterness. I don’t think this is a super fresh bottle. Viscous/syrupy mouthfeel, light bubbles. A bit sticky. Seems closer to a hoppy barley wine than a IIPA
