zappafan99 (284), Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA May 20, 2008 Updated: Jul 4, 2008 Heavy malt and hops..chewy..my 6th beer today. Red body wtih white to tan head...Bittersweet is a perfect name for this beer. Thick chewiness, over the top, but not too ambitious.Very drinkable .
Sleeper (49), Washington, USA Aug 29, 2008 Thick head (looks creamy) and nice amber color. Smells hoppy but not bitter (sweet?). Taste is hoppy , bitter, malty, ant returns to hops/alcohol. I taste something like plum Aftertaste is very pithy and dry. amish_caravan (204), Winona, Minnesota, USA Aug 23, 2008 pours a deep amber color. taste is of caramel and some burnt roast. taste is of hops and fermented fruit. very nice beer. IlanMan (522), Winona, Minnesota, USA Aug 23, 2008 Pour is deep golden ruby with a short lasting light tan head. Aroma is full of fresh hop chracters with some caramel malt. Flavor is very hoppy with a ton of malt and toffee caracters. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. Dang good brew. dkachur (756), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 20, 2008 22 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse. Viscous orange pour with a small head that quickly disappears. I’m looking for the rye in the aroma but all I find are a sweet maltiness balanced by a bitter hoppiness. Citrusy hops with some rye. Alcohol is hidden well. TheBeerBaron (162), Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 Cloudy orange brown hue. A small head that dissapears almost immediately. No carbonation in the glass. Fruity orange and more pineapple with just the tiniest hint of hops. A delicious aroma - do not drink this when hungry. The flavor is nothing like the aroma. Flavor is super heavily malted and even higher levels of hops - it is super packed with those two beer staples bursting at the seems. A silky palate but not as heavy as one might anticipate. The 10% alc is covered by all the hopping. This is a must try for those who appreciate the raw ingredients that goes into beer.
