| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 4, 2007 At the 2007 Big Beer, Belgians, & Barleywines Festival in Vail. Pours a golden yellow color with a thin white head. This was yummy. This aroma was reminiscent to pomegranate beer that I had in Australia. However, this beer incorporates lots of hop citrus berry-like scents as well. Very sweet, but not a fruity sweet, this is malt candy. The large amount of hops are nearly engulfed by the malt load. Very good. moejuck (1172), Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 4, 2007 Not much aroma, some lightly roasted malt. Very dark brown in appearance. Medium to thin palate lies under bitter coffee and roasted malt flavors. markgugs (86), Wood Ridge, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 4, 2007 poured from a 22oz. bomber into an Imperial pint glass
A: perhaps I poured this too fast, but it foamed up like a mutha on me; the beer itself forms a nice, slightly cloudy orange/copper color with, as mentioned, a ginormous, frothy off-white head that leaves an equal amount of lacing.
S: given what I’ve read about this beer, I was expecting a very malty, sweet aroma. That wasn’t entirely the case. It is definitely malted, and sweet in a caramel-ish way, but I detect almost no pomegranate, which I was hoping for.
T: I’m immediately reminded of a big Belgian ale, almost syrupy in its sweetness. It’s all malts up front, and still, not much in the way of pomegranates. As the sweetness fades, the "10" hops kick in and finish each swallow with some bitter crispness. Not too bad.
M: probably my favorite part of this beer, it’s velvety and creamy, with just the right amount of subtle carbonation. I really enjoyed how the beer felt in the mouth.
D: not a beer I’d go to over & over again, it seems to be stuck on sweet and not too much else, and at 10% ABV, well, you’re not really going to be drinking a lot of it anyway.
It’s an okay beer, I have one more in the fridge, I’ll probably pair it with a slice of cheesecake one night, not sure if I’d buy again. Juancho (225), Clearwater Beach, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Bomber in different locations. The chosen beer.... love their slogan. Medium bodied, nice hazy, cloudy look ,substantial palate feel/weigth. A little sweet for me or maybe it’s the fruit that i detect.
Good solid brew.... my wife loved it. AlabastorJones (765), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 2, 2007 medium laced white head and a golden/brown body, strong presence form initial sip, bold and alcoholic, intense but not balanced well enough to really excite me, needs more hops, it’s sort of a mess of malts right now with added booze and an attempt at complexity

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 1, 2007 Clear orange with a large head. Fair lacing. Aroma is caramel, Grass and earth hops, and some fruit. The fruit (pomegranate) is much more prevalent in the taste, along with caramel malt and a little alcohol. Medium body. Dry finish. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 27, 2007 Pours a clear reddish copper, briefly topped by an off white head of foam - oh - maybe half an inch tall. This gives way to just a film in short order. Sweet and fruity malt in the aroma, very nice.
Very dry beer. I can’t call it astringent, but it is close. I made a pomegranate mead once, and this has some of the flavor - but that mead was ASTRINGENT! Hint of pomegranate pith in the finish. Hint of sweet caramel malt in there too, but only briefly. Medium to full body, pleasant carbonation.
But damn, that mouth-puckering pomegranate sneaks up!
