A lot of citrus here, pink grapefruit. Bitterness and sweet, caramel malts. Cloying palate that is thick and sweet at the end. Oakes (8139), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 13, 2006 Standard amber colour. Fairly malty, alcoholic aroma. Fairly strong malty taste, with light caramel and a hint of alcohol. Didn’t get any pomegranate. Nor anything else distinguishing...really dull for a big-ass beer. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 9, 2006 Cloudy, light copper color. Nice pale white head but it did not last nor did it lace down the glass. Highly hopped beers (117# in 120 bbl) seldom have fruit juice added to them. At $4.49 a bottle it is not a bad beer but not worth going out of my way to purchase another. Cobra (1066), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 8, 2006 22 oz. brown bomber bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a medium orangish / copper color, with a a big tan colored head. Aromas are of pomegranate juice, kind of a sour cherry thing going on here. Sweet malts, and hops a plenty in the aromas. Flavors are of sweet fruit, along with bitter hops makes for an interesting combination. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium mouthfeel, thick body. Finishes rather sweet for a big beer. A damned good beer overall. slang (407), Columbia, South Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Dec 6, 2006 bottled, 22 oz $10 @ world market. Very mild nose over awesome looking ale. The flavor is malty balanced well w/ the tarte of the pome. An odd combination that was a brave endeavor, w/ great results. Thick coating mouth feel giving way to a very ’new’ brew on a fun night, Beerfest w/ Megan. Prost! SuperDave70 (1158), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 5, 2006 Update: I posted this rating to fast, now that the beer has warmed a bit the pomegranate flavor is much more bold, its interesting, but should be more subtle. Drink this brew while its colder.
Strong. Big hop nose, pine, citrus, wheat, and caramel. Sweet up front with a big bitter finish. The alcohol shows a bit, but isn’t to horrible, but has a big burn to the finish. Very piney hop finish with a light grapefruit note. The caramel sweetness up front is strong on the first few sips, but the alcohol kinda burns the palate after that. Pours copper, very clear, with a smooth white head. I don’t get the big pomegranate taste that others are getting, just a slight juiciness in the finish, i’m even trying, thinking of grenadine while sipping, just not happening like I’m imagining. Much more subtle blend of pomegranate mixed with the hops. raphael (420), Portland, Oregon, USA
