Nose is caramel malts, and some fruits with no obvious sign of the pomegranates. Flavor is a little sweet and the mouthfeel if medium. Dry finish, and the alcohol is not noticeable. I drank this at cellar temperature, and it got better as it warmed. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Over 10,000 pomegranates gave their juicy little lives to produce this tasty experiment. Though technically a "fruit beer" it has very little in common with all the halfhearted "fruit and wheat" beers on the market. The pomegranates add a slight tart/sour component to the beer that blends nicely with the caramel and toffee malt flavors. If you allow it to breathe and warm up a bit it exhibits a nice barleywine flavor. beerbill (1970), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2007 22 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a large sudsy linen white head. The aroma was very light; I just about had to dunk my nose into the beer to get a whiff of anything. A bit of fruit and that was about it. Thankfully a good bit more flavorful with some fruit sweetness, which I assume is the pomegranite juice, along with a bit of brown sugar and caramel. The alcohol was well hidden with only a trace of warmth noticeable. An ok beer. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2007 Copper color with a large head. Fruity aroma with a little bit of grain. Strong caramel malt flavor. Oddly hoppy for a year old beer. The pomegranate is still there, but just barely. Not too bad at all. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2007 I was quite impressed with this beer. Dark off-amber in pour with a white head that was not too thick. Aroma of sweet fruit (pomegranate) and citrus. Flavors of sugary sweetness contrasted with the tart of the pomegranate. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2007 Sampled during Cellar’s Wine & Spirits weekly beer tasting, shared by Joebrew. From a 22-oz bomber, pours a semi-hazy dark amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of caramel malt, some dark pitted fruit, some citrus zest and a touch of tart pomegranate. Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with falvors of caramel malt, citrus zest and a hint of tart fruit. Finish is semi-sweet, slightly dry with a caramel and tart citrus aftertaste. Interesting winter (he)brew. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 10, 2007 Pours deep amber with a thick but short lived head. Sweet fruits and hops in the nose. Light pom but not much in the flavor, kind of overpowered by the malt and hops. Hops are very flowery and this is just a little too sweet for more than a small sample. Finishes oily and thick, no hint of the 10% abv. Could have been better. masonjer (564), Holt, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Have been sitting on this for a little bit now. Not exactly sure why, but had to pull it out when my buddy picked up the hebrew 11th anniversary. Pours a reddish color, smell is some light fruit, slight hop character. Taste is distant pom flavor which I think adds a slight tart flavor, some sweet malts and punchy hop background. Overall not bad, didn’t exactly come together in a great way. The 11th anniversary is way better.
