Pours a clear deep amber-copper with a small diminishing off-white head. Nice aroma, it’s different then I expected but in a good way -- Malty along with dark fruit, nuts, honey and light hops. Less flavourful then I would have thought based on the aroma but still nice -- toasted malt, toffee, nuts and light hops. Light bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Good stuff, too bad we don’t still get this here. piscator34 (1134), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Aromas of toffee, nuts, earthy hops, and a bit of citrus. Fairly slick in the mouth, with crystal malts, and nuts playing dominant roles. A bit of orange and spicy hop on the finish, but not nearly enough to put this into the American pale ale category. Drinkable, but not overly impressive. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2008 Bottle (12oz). My bottle, shared with blankboy and garthicus. Clear deep copper with a smallish creamy beige head. Sweet caramel malt and soft floral hop and sweet yeast aroma - taste follows, lightly bitter in the finish. Very soft mouthfeel, carbonation and astringency, fairly quick linger - decent, easy to drink. garthicus (1313), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Unsure why this is classified as an American Pale Ale, the bottle claims itself as a "Light Brown Ale". Pours clear amber with an off-white head that disappears eventually. Nose is fairly subdued, but I get some ocean breeze in there. Body is similar but has loads of solid slightly sweet malt, caramel, sunflower seeds and a bit of sour mash. Pretty tasty, has great carbonation to cool one’s self in the summer months. A solid Brown Ale, I enjoyed this more than Messiah Bold. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA
