| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 12, 2006 Considerable malts for an APA. The malts are mostly dry but there is a touch of sweetness. Fairly roasty in the flavor, suggesting a dryer stout rather than a pale ale. The hops are on the light side. It has a little more bite than an amber ale but still fairly easy going, and the hops that are there build on the dry malt base of the beer. It looks good enough; light red and a thin layer of foam. eaglefan538 (2399), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2006 Sampled straight from the bottle. Assumed this was a brown ale from the bottle label. Obviously, the first taste was a surprise, as the APA-ness was easy to figure out. Not much in the aroma. The flavor was fairly well balanced between malts and hops, the latter not overpowering and nice (pine trees weren’t running rampant!). I enjoyed this APA, one of the more likeable ones I’ve had. (The quips on the bottle label are humorous, too!) mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 5, 2006 I don’t like pale ales and this is no exception good gimick though! I also was touched that this and St Pauli girl sat side by side. World peace through booze!! ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2006 Bottled. Pours a clear amber color but to be honest, it’s hard to se the beer with all the carbonation bubbles struck to the side of the glass; this one is BUBBLY! After the head settled a bit there is a good deal of some sort of oil on top of the beer. I can also see the oils stuck to the side of the glass where the head had been. Fairly straight forward malt flavor with a bit of hops. Very clean, malty flavor with a bit of orange flavor from the hops. Nothing extraordinary but a very nice beer. tcruicks (282), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 15, 2006 Its a light brown, almost reddish color with a small white head that goes away pretty quickly. It smells fruity, sweet, maybe caramel and nutty, but its a very weak aroma. The flavour is very simple- some hops, bitter, and something like cheerios or some grainy taste. Overall I think the aroma is OK but way too weak, and the flavour is slightly offensive, its a decent beer but nothing special. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 15, 2006 Pours clear light reddish amber with not much of a head and some biggish bubbles. The aroma is as nonoffensive. There’s not a lot going on, perhaps some sweet almost fruity malt, with a hint of alcohol. The palate is pretty middle of the road too, no overblown CO2, but not particularly creamy or thick or distinctive. The flavors are generally pleasant, sweet creamy strawberry-like malt with some slight hops and nutty. There’s something a little unpleasant in this beer though, not like there’s too much age, but rather a bitterness that doesn’t match the sweetness. The lingering taste is generally bitter and a touch sour. This isn’t a bad beer, but I’ve certainly had better sessions. waveman352 (178), Walden, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 4, 2006 5/4/06 12 oz. bottle. Pours a muddy light brown color with fairly small tan head thats leaves quickly. No true distinct nose, slightly nutty aroma but not overpowering. Lots of carbonation and chewy taste. A slight bite in the aftertaste that I think is necessary to make the beer respectable and good. Full of off-caramel tasting malts. To dark in my opinion to be an american pale ale but the good hops make the flavors lean towards this style. Leaves a good taste in the back of your throat. Pretty decent texture.
