Aroma is fresh and malty with a slight graham cracker element. Seems like a very plain yet profound beer that doesn’t follow any particular style, perhaps somewhat like a British ESB -- yet on the other hand I find the body quite palatable, thick and smooth like a good ESB. Flavor is strong but simple, an unoffensive hodgepodge of hops and malt that sticks. Falconseye8 (525), Cartersville, Georgia, USA

Looks more like an amber than an APA. Not as hoppy as one would expect for a good APA. Very nice Amber. MIxed message here with the taste buds as well. Nice beer but not exceptional for either category. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 10, 2005 12 oz. bottle. Poured orangey brown with very little head. Lacing was spotty at best. Aromas were almost non existent with some maltiness when I tried hard enough. Flavors were a bit better with some nuttyness coming through the malt and hop flavors. Not a bad hop bitterness, but it seemed a litte watered down. Decent beer, but not the best APA I’ve had. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 7, 2005 Brown/Copper Coloring with Sandy Blotchy Skin. Bad Malty-Grainy Aroma. Bad Malt in the Beginning...Herbal Notes Following, Heavy Malt Mouthfeel on Aftertaste. Certainly its own Beast. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 3, 2005 Bottle: Dark amber, small off-white head, spotty lacing, light carbonation. Aroma of beef stir fry. Cracker Jack oriented cardboard like flavor. Astringent on the backside. What the hell is this? Certainly not a light brown ale. Average body and mouthfeel. This one is in a class all its own...

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 2, 2005 Clear dark orange color. Thin white head. Mild mix of hop and malt aroma. Resiny hop flavor. Not sharp, just resiny. Decent body. This was better than I thought it would be. badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2005 Amber color with a thin head. The aroma reminded me of old hops... like they had been left on a warm windowsill for a few days before being added. There really isn’t much taste, just a bitter finish. Plain. civforprez (225), Galesburg, Illinois, USA
