Bottle. Dark amber-brown beer with a nice light brown head. Low malt aroma with some roast. Sweet malt and spice flavor - some roastiness, chocolate - but quite sweet. Just enough hops to notice. 9 malts and 9 hops - it’s definately the malts that add a bit of complexity to this one.

Sharp black licorice and roasted malt aroma. Dark brown to black with a HUGE mocha head that is both bubbly and creamy. Almost tastes like a thin Imperial Stout. Very concentrated roasted/burnt flavors in the fore followed by sweet black licorice and anise in the middle and finish. Notes of chocolate appear as well, but they are muted. Has a very nice flavor walk from fore to finish and I’m pretty impressed.

In the bomber bottle. Pours a reddish-purple black when held to the light. Has an incredible thick foaming light brown head. The head remains about an inch thick until the last gulp. Rich chocolatey aroma. Mild spice flavorings. Very thick mouthfeel. The dense chewy roasted and chocolate flavor masks a lot of what is going on in this beer. As it warmed to RT, I was then able to discern many more earthy tones and spices. This raises a dilemma: tastes better warm, but is most likely explosive out of the bottle if not chilled when you try to pour. A good problem to have.

Bottle: Courtesy of Secret Santa. Aroma of caramel, fruit, cinnamon, light yeast, and a hint of alcohol. Pours a dark reddish-brown with only the faintest hints of transparency. Small tan head quickly becomes a ring. Flavor is caramel, dark fruits, and a hint of yeast up font. Finishes with lots of wood, burnt flavors, pine, and a hint of alcohol. As it warms caramel flavors really increase and the hops become very subdued.

Aroma is chocolate and dark malt. Appears a dark brown with a minimum amount of head creatd. The flavor is sweet and of malt thats been roasted to perfection and equally balanced with a fair share of hops. Also bits of chocolate, raisin and mocha cme through. Rich and sily texture that allowed my palate to relax with every drink of this.

22 oz, capped bottle: huge, fluffy, dark tan head that diminishes slowly into a thin cream. Sharp cherry and alcohol laced aroma with candy (sugared) malts, toffee and bananas. Bitter, licorice flavour with sweet berries and tangy malts. A smooth creaminess delivers the vegetal bitterness in a mostly delicate and indeed flavourful manner that allows the alcohol to sneak up on the unsuspecting. Not bad.
