| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 8, 2005 Sampled from bottle. Pours dark ruby-brown with a creamy, tall tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is subtle, but sophisticated: prune, toffee and some spice. Flavor is slightly sweet and heavy with yeast character (dark fruit). Some spice, wood and alcohol as well. Full-bodied, moderately carbonated. Sticky sweet finish. A well-made beer. Gurst (338), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 8, 2005 Dark, wooden color. Thick strings of lacing remain after the moderate head calms. Taste is interesting; bread, dark fruit, grapefruit, and plant resin all are readily apparent. Spicy sweet finish. Body is perhaps too thin, though its hard to say if a thicker mouthfel would improve or detract from the hops. wxman (588), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 7, 2005 This seasonal is a very dark clear garnet color. The redness isn’t noticable unless you hold your glass to the light. Head is a tan color that maintains a medium consistency. Aroma is rather faint; perhaps some hops and prunes. Taste is malty with sizable hop bitterness; coffee, chocolate, smoke, and fruit. Damn good stuff! SSSteve (2096), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 6, 2005 malt and mild hop aroma. i detect something roasted. dark ruby almost black in color. tan head. the roasted malts show through more on the palate than the hops. i taste toffee and caramel mostly. the good roasty malt dies in the finish when it should linger on the tongue and just gives way to a dry alcohol ending. fluids (364), USA

Very malty and with some dancing spice notes. The hops are slightly grapefruit.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 25, 2005 Dark brown, with some nice ruby highlights. Nose is malts and hops, nothing too impressive. Taste is rather simplistic as well. Darker malts and floral hops are the major players. There is a small amount of dark fruit flavors and a biscuityness in the background as well. I have never really had anything like this before, rather interesting. Where this beer falls flat is the odd astringency/bitterness that seems to never go away. A rather flat body as well. Alcohol is barely detected however. sloth (1678), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 25, 2005 Pours a medium sized tan head with good retention and spotty lace. Dark mahogany, ruby hued buried inside. Med/full bodied, lightly viscous. Nose is malty, toffeeish and fruity. A spicey, chocolatey flavorful brew, notes of cherries, cinnamon intertwined with hints of coffee and caramel. Finish is medium sweet, a touch salty. Alot of flavor and a groovy palate. Better than i expected.
