The hebrew 11 rocks and throwing it in rye whisky casks makes it even better. Not too over the top on whiskey rye flavor, it is somewhat subtle up front and comes through in the after taste. Almost too drinkable. I am a huge fan of this beer, can’t wait till the 12/12/12. This beer is not for faint hearted, only big beer fans!!!!! JoeMcPhee (5010), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 29, 2008 Tap at Blind Tiger. Very dark brown beer with a thick tan head. Aroma is quite sweet and spicy. Medium chocolate, toasted graininess and a bit of spicy rye whisky aroma. Less woody and oaky than the rye on rye, but somehow more of the rye character itself comes through. A bit earthy and chewy as well. Flavour is quite sweet but the rye character helps tone it down a bit. The alcohol is well-hidden and there is very good integration of the barrel character with the beer. Some soft oakiness on the back. As it warms the beer really comes into its own as the rye whisky character picks up a lot. Spicy and even a little fruity over the sweet chocolate and rich caramelly malts. An excellent version of the 11, which I enjoyed as well. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA

Malty aroma, with dark fruits, whiskey, and some vanilla like sweetness. The flavor is heavy on the dark fruit sweetness. Raisin, fig, etc. Whiskey notes are restrained but definitely noticeable. Very nice. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
