Dark, porter-like pour with a smaller, creamy head. Sweet, very nutty caramel aroma. Sweet, very hoppy flavor, like candied walnuts and pine needles.

Dark burgundy-brown with a thin yet tightly packed tan head. Tremendously inviting nose. Wonderful mouthfeel. Thick, velvety texture with a complementing level of carbonation. Rich malts were filled with toffee, chocolate, peat, dark grains, earth and freshly baked multigrain bread. Hops were grassy; somewhat drying bitterness in the finish. Other aromas of dark fruit and pine. Big alcohol was hidden fairly well, soft and soothing. What a great beer!

Pours actually quite dark brown/black/red around the edges. Nose is mostly hops and cola, very pleasant hop aroma, not too aggressive. Taste is really quite interesting. Mouthfeel is thick and robust, much like the taste. Roasty and sweet, some cocoa and some citrusy bits. Very nice beer.

Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt aromas of toasted, molasses and coffee, moderate aromas of herbs and resin for the hops, moderate aroma of dough for the yeast, with prune, tar and brown sugar in the background. Head is thick, rocky, off-white, with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is dark brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then the long finish is lightly sweet and acidic, and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, between creamy and syrupy and has a lively carbonation. A full, rich beer with some nice aromas and flavors. The 11% alcohol is well hidden.

Poured from the bottle gave a pitch black brew with a very thin tan head. the aromas are complex and intriguing and wonderful. chocolate, molasses. The taste is sweet malt and nicely balanced hops with a medium thick mouthfeel. Some roasted almost bourbon notes come out. Bitter on the back end.Good long finish leaving you wanting more. Way good beer.
