| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Better not smoke after this one or you’ll be breathing fire!!! This one is hard alcohol with dark fruit and mild sweetness. Pillowy latte head sits on top of a brunette body. Aroma is full of sweet molasses, caramel, and toffee. Unfortunately, you can’t taste past the 11%. I am a HUGE fan of HUGE beers but this was a HUGE disappointment!!! HomeBrewHawk (282), De Soto, Kansas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 9, 2008 22oz. bottle served in a Duvel glass. Poured a deep mahogany with a couple of fingers of tan head. Huge malt aroma, some molasses, hops and a little alcohol. Big, chewy full bodied brew. Really complex malt profile with fruit, raisins, a little port like oxidation. Followed up with plenty of hop bitterness. Nice bitter finish. Alcohol is warming, but not hot. Lots of flavor here, and a bargain at $4.99.
