Very dark pour with nice creamy head. aroma is hoppy with a sweet malt. Flavor is malty licorice. There is a lot of flavor in this brew. Full of hops and malts - chocolate, roast, prune

This bottled brew from a rating party at Patrick’s poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation dark brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy and dark malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a biting malty aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of dark malt brown malt and chocolate. A decent one that I would consider having again.

Pours a very dark brown, almost black color with a hint of mahogany red when held up to a light source and a thin beige head that quicly dissolves into a thin ring. Roasted chocolate malt aroma with hints of nut and an impressive hop presence. This beer has a nice balance of roasted chocolate maltines and bitter floral hops with chocolate, caramel, hazelnut, roasted coffee and sweet alcohol notes.

Very darkly colored with a small tan head that quickly dissipates to a thin clinging ring. Aroma sweet, raisins, caramel, alcohol. The flavor is first about sweet override fruit married with malty caramel. Then comes the wave of hoppiness and bitterness. Very full mouthfeel. Pretty nice stuff. While the alcohol is noticeable it does not detract and in the end this one is quite drinkable, dangerously so.

Dark black with an interesting smell that I couldn’t quite classify but is alcohol fumes later, dough, syrup. Tasted hoppy, malty kinda barleywine-esque and not as strong as you would think given the ABV. This is almost a barleywine but there is something that makes it a little off. This beer is decent but not great, a year might help. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-21-2008 03:02:37

Rich smooth and silky pour into the glass. Coffee and raisin aroma. Rich flavors with alcohol coming through. Delicious but a little harsh. Man O’ man these guys are putting out some killer beers! Complex, brilliant. I have several 5 ratings and I’ll just have to add another. I can’t see not giving it a 5 because of some small thing. Many reviewers have given only one 5 for a thousand beers. That is ridiculous!

Bottle. [thank you, madmitch76]
Pours deep brown, almost black. Small, creamy, cappucino head. Aroma has fruity hops, roasted malts, raisins, brown sugars, plums and yeast. Medium carbonation, fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is hoppy, lots of ashy black malts, some dark chocolate, coffee. High in viniousness, the aftertaste lingers with port, plums and brown sugars.
