Pours a dark brown/black color with a light short lived tan head. Smell is malty and stale cardboardiness. Taste is mostly the same with maltiness, and old, oxidized stale flavors, and just not very good, at least anymore. Medium to light bodied, and a bit of a disapointment. On a bright note, the 11% wasn’t noticeable at all...

Bottle. Pours black with a slight ruby on the edges. Lots of fruit in the nose, some currants and prunes. Very port like with raisins and prune flavors to start. Medium bodied on the mouth. Slightly bitter finish with a long lasting smoke flavor. Quite the opposite of what I was thinking when I bought it but very very good!

Man what a beer. online from vintage cellars. Very nice beer indeed. Poured a dark thick brown with a huge sweet , alcohol taste. chocolate and dried fruit are up front. This beer was great with my steak

I needed something to break a streak of five straight drain-pours, this better do the trick! Pours an opaque dark brown/black with a small frothy beige head. Sweet and roasty aroma of rye bread and chocolate, lightly burnt with hints of grapefruit and orange. Full mouthful, creamy but well carbonated. Flavor follows the aroma, creamy chocolate roasted rye bread. I have a feeling this bottle is almost a year old, as the hops are a bit oxidized, however it is no drain-pour. Bitter finish, maybe a little too burnt.

Fine roast coffee aroma, a bit of cocoa powder seems to be here too, deepest brown, red at the edges, small, lasting tan head. Flavour is roast mocha, with some hints of pitfruit. Medium bodied, very well balanced, beatifully bitter. L’Chaim!

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with some ruby-tinted edges when held aloft to the light. Topped with a two inch, beige-colored head. Smell: Initially roast, toasted dark bread, and charred walnuts. Then some chocolate and sweet-smelling fruits. Then some pine sap, grapefruit, and fresh wood bark. Taste: Roast, dark malts and a taste of toast coasted in honey and dark caramel. Flecks of milk chocolate-covered nuts and coffee follow. Then some sugar-sauteed dark fruitiness that also lends some tartness to the taste. Slight bready, multi-grain rye character. Warming throughout. Piney, woody, fruity citrus hops flavors with a moderate bitterness. The initial sips finish bittersweet, but the cumulative hoppiness finally gets things ending with a dry bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Somewhat chewy mouthfeel. Drinkability: A rather powerful brew, but very tasty and rather enjoyable.
