beerbuzzmontreal (2660), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 12, 2008 Clear dark brown pour with a thin light brown head. Aroma of dark malt, chocolate and burned caramel. Interesting flavor of malt, chocolate and caramel. The body is light with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. 11 ma;ts and 11 hops? It seems they tried to do too much with this beer, keeping it simple would have made a better beer.
kevd193213 (287), Coventry, Rhode Island, USA Jun 28, 2008 Bottle. Dark medium bodied pour with a thin creamy head. Aroma of hops and pepper with some chocolate and caramel present. Taste of peat, burnt coffee with a dry hoppy finish. PhatB420 (33), Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA Jun 15, 2008 A great ale, smooth to the tounge, smooth going down, nice finish, great surprise. Well done. RCL (942), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Jun 8, 2008 Dark, porter-like pour with a smaller, creamy head. Sweet, very nutty caramel aroma. Sweet, very hoppy flavor, like candied walnuts and pine needles. Aubrey (2549), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 4, 2008 Dark burgundy-brown with a thin yet tightly packed tan head. Tremendously inviting nose. Wonderful mouthfeel. Thick, velvety texture with a complementing level of carbonation. Rich malts were filled with toffee, chocolate, peat, dark grains, earth and freshly baked multigrain bread. Hops were grassy; somewhat drying bitterness in the finish. Other aromas of dark fruit and pine. Big alcohol was hidden fairly well, soft and soothing. What a great beer! laguerita (38), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 4, 2008 dark brown/red. sweet and hoppy aroma. a bit of a bite at the front end, rich almost bourbon flavors, finshes bitter. me gusta.
