22oz. Bottle from VBM in Buffalo. Pours an almost completely opaque dark brown body with a reddish tint. Small medium tan head with some light lacing. Complex aroma of roasted malts, fruits, caramel, chocolate, hops all with an underlying alcohol prescence. Flavor is nice caramel, malts, sweet cocoa and coffee. Alcohol and hoppy finish. Medium/full bodied, lingering aftertaste. Very good ASA. Suprised and satisfied with this brew!

Pours from bottle a dark brown with little carbonation and a very thin light brown head. Aroma has alcohol, cooked prune, and some coffee present. Flavor is barleywine like with a syrupy sweetness leading to dark fruits, coffee, and brown sugar. Nothing to dynamic but nothing bad either. Overall, nice to drink. I would drink more if I had them.

Very sharp, strong barley-wine like aroma. Very dark amber color with very little head. Thick, full-bodied mouthfeel. Very warming beer. Dark caramel and raisins taste. Strong alcohol presence. I could drink one of these but I think I would be horizonal afterwards. Strong indeed.

22 oz bottle. Pours a very deep brown with a slight red hue and a creamy thick head. Aroma is very sweet and malty with some sugar plums and raisins. nice and bready with some brown sugar and molasses. Nice nose but didnt come off as very strong to me (perhaps i had a cold?) Flavor starts with a big winter spicy kick. Picks up a big sweet bread and chocolate malt character. A sweet and spicy finish, very holiday feeling with a spiced candy-like feel. Medium to full body and a softer carbonation. Pretty nice brew, would like to try this again after it ages for a little while. Rerate: Drank one year later. Aroma is still pretty hot but better, flavors have melded nicely, calming a bit and the alcohol has settled giving way to the complexity of the malts. Definitely a few points better

22 oz bottle from Spirits RB. Poured a black body with slightly lighter edges and an average size light mocha head. Aroma is toasty with lots of dark fruits, prune and plum, dates and figs and some tobacco to round it out. Soft carbonation on a velvety body with only a light touch of alcohol warming. Flavor of burnt toast, dates, figs, tobacco and burnt malts. Solid beer.

Bottle from Utobeer, Borough Market, Southwark, London, 14-11-09 consumed 22-11-09 Pours dark brown with a light beige swirl and rim of bubbles. Aroma is heavy with malts, treacle and spice, Loz says that she gets a real meatiness on the nose. Spicey warmth from the alcohol, dark sticky fruits, again I get black treacle, there is no denying the sweetness, but there is also a taste reminiscent from a Stone beer I like. Oily coating on inside of glass. Good beer but at £7.90 a pop another pricey offering from this establishment.. A7 A4 F8 P4 Ov15 3.8
