The frontal assault is very big. HeBrew has these big beers with plum, fig , date, prune flavors down to a science. I am hooked. Barleywineish. Bitter, sweet, sticky, coffee, dark fruit, burnt sugar and very slight coconut. Yum! Hold your opinion and let the beer warm! The alcohol blends well with the rich textures and flavors. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, coffee, dark fruit and hints of sherry. Complex flavor profile of chocolate, cherry, raisin, caramel, coffee, cookie dough, oats, orange, soy, sherry and oak. Medium-heavy body is creamy smooth, roasty-dry and has some chest-warming. Well-hidden 12% in this tasty dessert. Mazel Tov! craftbeerdesign (760), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 21, 2009 bomber poured into a Delirium Noel Snifter. Pours a deep brown out of the bottle and settles into a nice black with an average tan head... some lacing throughout. Some sweet malt and mild dark fruit aromas. Medium body with some bitterness up front along with some apple, raisin, molasses, plum and sweet banana. The body carries through up top and has a strong somewhat bitter finish along with a touch of alcohol. This is quite delicious and a very solid strong ale. Highly recommended to those who enjoy a dynamic and flavorful body with a bit of strength to round it out. nathan30533 (158), Dahlonega, Georgia, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 18, 2008 Updated: Oct 28, 2009Man was I impressed with this one. Almost no sound at all when I popped the cap, which made me worry it was a bad bottle. At first, the pour didnt seem to have any carbonation - I was sure the seal had been broken, so I gave it a high center pour to be sure. Then the dense, thick head began forming on top - the beer is so thick it took a good few seconds for the head to form. Pours black with ruby accents, and a head the color of the crema on top of an espresso shot. Beautiful. Nose is a bit funky at first, but moves through many different flavors. A bit of smoke, and certainly some chocolate (there are definitely notes of a stout in here), but mostly dark fruits - figs, dates and raisins, and a bit of caramel. MAN is this a thick beer. Mouthfeel is unbelievably thick - I wish it had a bit more carbonation to offset that, but it coats your mouth beautifully and just bursts with flavor. Takes the flavor notes from a Belgian quad - figs, raisins, caramel and even a bit of apple - and adds some of the deep, smokey qualities of an American stout. Far better than the eleven - this is very good stuff.

RERATE 10/28/09: This is even better than I remember it. Just fantastic. Some great slightly tart apple notes countering the sweetness of all those malts, not unlike the HotD Matt. Utterly fantastic balance in here, especially for this much flavor. Not a trace of that 12% - though that could be the extra year of age it has on it. Delicious. dekeq (35), New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 2, 2009 Poured out pretty black - might as well have been called an imperial stout. It had a nice, dark, yellowish head that was very full and lasted quite a while. The edges of the brew had a caramel tint when you held it up to a light but it was still very opaque. It had a very interesting scent that started hoppy and went sweet. The flow of smells was very interesting and there were quite a few to pick out. At the first taste, it seemed a little bitter and then a bit of sweetness came in. It was also very frothy and it ended with a nice alcoholic taste - very subtle considering it’s 12%. This brew had quite a bit of body. It was very smooth and I really enjoyed the flow of flavors and textures. FROTHINGSLOSH (2036), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

The aroma was malty and sweet with notes of chocolate and candied dark fruits. The flavor was full with molasses, caramel and candied dark fruits. Touches of bourbon, port wine and cocoa mix through into a long and complex finish. The mouthfeel was very thick and full. Excellent.
