draft @ redlight redlight Oaky vanilla with cherries, sweet woody aromas. Pours a dark yet clear amber with a thick off white head. Fruity up front with traces of some wild bacteria at work from the wood, hints of whiskey with vanilla tanins, trace hints of chocolatey malts. Very light and extremely easy to drink but still has depth and some complexity. I think this is an excellent beer.

Draft at Redlight Redlight. Cloudy mud brown pour with a thin off white head. Big spicy whiskey and oak notes. Taste is slightly sour with sweet malt, oak and whiskey all floating around in the glass. Finishes slightly bitter and dry with hints of the whiskey as it fades away. Just an outstanding brew.

Tap @ redlight redlight. This really reminded me of JP Biere de Mars with a strong rye whiskey presence. Gorgeous creamy dense white head atop a red/brown body. Nice lacing throughout. The aroma is fruity, wood, sour, and rye whiskey. The flavor is similar with tannic woodiness, tartness, quite fruity, with some caramel and whiskey. Nice and drying. Very lush in the mouth. Excellent.

Draft at Redlight Redlight. Pours a dark, transparent, beautiful violet color with a small, quick, beige colored head. Minimal soapy spots mark the glass. The aroma is really nice and complex. Brown sugar and dark fruits lay the malt base, while soured oak notes and vanilla turn things in the direction of an oud bruin. The controlled funk works perfectly with the sour mash whiskey overtone that permeates the nose. Flavors showed more sour brown notes with caramel and dark fruit tannins. Saturated, vanilla tinged oak and smooth, twangy whiskey are subtle, never overpowering. Medium bodied and moderate-plus carbonation, finishing on the dry side. Impossible to categorize, this brew is part American brown and part Flemish oud bruin, all with a wonderful application of the whiskey barrel. Very nice brew.

Terrapin & Friends beer dinner at Trappeze. Sampled next to regular Messiah Bold. The wood really adds alot to this beer. Poured brownish amber with a beige head. Aroma of oak, malt, vanilla. Taste is malty, vanilla, oak, with a little fruit. Very nice. Mouth is smooth and lightly carbonated. Easy drinking. Overall, a solid brew.

On tap @ Redlight. Blackish pour, thin very light tan/off-white head. Oaky funk, light rye and roast, light alcohol, background mild tartness. Decent roast taste, but the feature is the funky oak flavor that shows more on the back end. Very interesting brew.

On tap @ City Beer poured a clear dark brown with a small lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of rye, fruittiness, carmel, toffee and sour cherry. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a lightly tart finish. Flavors of rye, sour cherry, light oak and light carmel with a smooth lightly tart finish.
