Bottle. Pour is a dark brown with a smallish head that dies out quickly. Aromas are sweet... brown sugar with a touch of dried fruit. Flavor is heavily reliant on roasted malt with a touch of coffee and nut notes. Not really interesting, but not horrible, by any stretch of the imagination.

Decent taste on first sip but settles kind of dry with too much alcohol coming threw. Not a drain pour though.

OK, I have come to learn that brown ales are not among my favorite styles. To me, this tastes like most other brown ales I have tasted- dry, slight caramel notes, low hops. Nothing else (aroma, appearance, palate) stands out here, & for the price, why bother?

Bottle - aroma is just beautiful! Plenty of malt with a bit of roasty goodness. A touch of chocolate. Deep brown body with a sizeable beige head. A nice roasty flavor as well. I don’t get a lot of the nut. At least initially. It does come to the front as the beer warms. A nice nut brown, but still a nut brown.

Grain and herb nose with some toasted caramel. Nutty and mildly piney on the palate. Dry and bready finish.

12 oz. bottle. Clear, deep mahogany under a rather spare light beige head with only marginal lace.Scorched caramel, roasted nuts, and some spicy and piney hops in the aroma. Medium body and carbonation, a very mild astringency, and a bit of chewiness. Caramel malt flavor followed by a pleasant peppery bitterness for a softly dry finish. Easily drinkable, has some character in a style that can often be somewhat bland.

Bottle Pours a clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a small short lived head that leaves minimal lacing. Aroma of caramel, roasted nuts, and a touch of roasted malt. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amoun tof bitterness. Very good.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small tan head. The aroma was sweet, malty and had a bock like element. The flavor was dry, bitter, roasty and a bit smoky. The finish was long and dry. Everything I generally dislike in a brown ale.
