| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 1, 2007 Aroma is caramel and woody. Dark brown color, good lacing. Taste is smoke and ash, with just a touch of cherry.. Not sour, bitter, or sweet, but manages to balance a little of each. Smoky hop finish, that gets woddier upon warming. Extremely well balanced but lacks strength and a wow factor. Uprated for perfect balance. Nicely done. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 25, 2007 In the bottle from Beertopia. Pours black with a thin off white head that looks white from the contrast. Thin body and surprisingly boring. This definitely is my least favorite He’Brew beer. Mild roasted taste, but little else. A snoozer. JoeMcPhee (5056), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 25, 2007 Tap at HDG. Dark brown beer, creamy tan head. Deep malty aroma with earthy chocolate and soft herbal hoppiness in the nose. Woody flavour with light caramel and toasted malt. Bitter and fairly astringent. Lightly caramelly/plummy with a bit of earthy bitterness. Meh. Nephilium (558), Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 21, 2007 Sweeter aroma then the ones I usually go for, a slight hint of hops hiding behind a caramel/nutty aroma. Pours a dark reddish-brown, with a fluffy white head. Yep, there’s the nutty notes, and just a wisp of hops lurking behind it. A drinkable beer, but not one I’ll be going for again. Bock-like maltiness in the nose and also ripe mamey and medjool fruits. Mouthfeel is highly carbonated but nicely chewy. Flavors include date, halvah, and dark bread. Malty and mild. re-rate. Opaque black-brown with very little tan head. Mild malty nose a lot like kvas. Raisins predominate. Low carbonation, gentle mouthfeel, medium body with thin finish. Very malty. A little sweet but really smooth, round with a touch of roast in the finish like bread crust. Whelk (124), Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England
