| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Bottle. Brown beer with a small tan head. Aroma of rich dark malts. Flavor is a tad better than the Genesis. Malty with some spicy, astringent hops. Prickly on the tongue. Bitter finish and aftertaste. Not bad but barely worth the premium price. Great label. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 29, 2007 Pours a dark brown almost black with a tan head. Thought it was a stout, unless this rating said brown ale. Has a huge hint of roasted malts, coffee, cocoa. Finished with a roasted burnt taste on the tongue. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 26, 2007 On tap. Poured a very dark brown with a thin broken white head. Decent roasty and nutty aroma. Roasted malt flavors present along with a light sweetness, which gave a nice finish. Pretty roasty for a brown ale, which I liked. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 22, 2007 The color was brown with red hues. The head was thin, off white, and fizzy. The aroma was roasty and salty. The flavor was great. It was roasty, coffee-like, and very complex for a brown ale. The palate was smooth and the finish, clean. I liked this beer a lot. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 21, 2007 Rated 6/12/06: Had my eye on this one for some time, picked up a sixer and boy am I glad I did. I don’t have a long history with brown ales but this one is interesting. Nice mild aroma with a creamy maltiness and ever so fragile nuttiness, there appears to be a faint hop presence. Very pleasant I didn’t rank it any higher since it’s a touch too subtle for me. The appearance is fantastic for this style. Rich deep brown in daylight yet slightly mahagony when held close to the light. There is a soft creamy tan head very similar to a dry stout. Lack of thick lacing holds this back from a perfect appearance. Mouthfeel is decent when cold but grows fuller as it warms up, smooth and creamy it trickles down with satisfaction. Great taste with a nice nutty flavor accented by lightly roasted malt and rounded out with that interesting hop characteristic found in the aroma. At first I wasn’t thrilled but I walked away and let this one breathe and warm up considerably, as I came back I was blown away by the change in aroma and flavor. Please pour a glass and let it sit, as this beauty warms up you will be happy. Mitzvah! guber327 (12), USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 5, 2007 much better than their genesis ale, this brown was a good tasting, easy drinking brew. roasted flavor leans it more towards a porter in flavor, as far as a brown its a little darker than newcastle with similar qualities.
