Pour is a very dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is pretty darn good. Some caramel, hops and a nice roasty chocolate show up. Flavor is also quite good. Molasses and toffee with some chocolate and a nice hoppyness to round out the flavor. Pretty tasty for a brown ale and prob one of the best i have ever had.

12/31/06: Bottle.
Garnet-brown body with a caramel malt nose. Flavor is of burnt coffee and roasted chestnut – or maybe hazelnut. I think I’d prefer another Martini, please.

12oz bottle. Filtered with a deep dark brown hue with ruby hightlights. Off-white ring of head. Tootsie-Roll caramel toffee sweet malty nose. Deep cocoa aromas. Nice aroma. Pruny cola note. Medium to full bodied. Great malt flavor and a bitter dry finish. Initial malt note is bitter chocolate and coffee flavor and acidity. Smooth with a nutty character. Then the bitterness hits. Esters in the malt side. Rich and smooth. Bitterness ebbs as it warms. But it still hits the tongue with a punch of astringency. Nice sweet and dry. Slight burnt flavor. Something is holding this beer back. Not quite great, but good!

Bottle. Sienna colored, light tan head. Looks pretty. Aroma escapes me at the moment, because I’m overwhelmed by the awful bitter flavor after just one sip. My friend S, with whom I shared this, however, reports a wonderful heavy, rich hoppiness. He had the rest of my part. But this being my rating, I say "YUCK!"

Very dark burgundy. Minimal head. Chocolate IPA and French toast aroma. Flavour is chocolate and hops. OK but not what the aroma promised.

Hoppy brown ale with a really bitter finish. Lightly toasty malts up front giving a nutty flavor with a citrus hop finish. Medium on the palate with a strong residual bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear mahogany color with small off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel and nuts. Taste is slightly sweet of brown sugar, nuts, hops and caramel. Finishes a little on the bitter side with the flavor of most other nut brown ales.
