Taste of nuts, malt, slight hop bitterness. Could be a much better brown ale if it wasn’t quite as thin. Overall, flavor is good but the mouthfeel is lacking, still not a bad session beer though. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 13, 2006 Rich dark color seems to be hebrew’s signiture, or strong suit. Very carbonated, like the Genesis, with a smokey aroma. Head large and airy, disipates rather quick. The Bad: flat and watery. the Good: balanced, fairly dry and sharp with nuts/caramel/hops/vanilla. in other words, flavorful. Not bad. michael-pollack (2733), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 12, 2006 12oz. Bottle: Aroma is sweet and malty. Hints of cookie dough and roast. Scent not that hoppy or strong. Poured nutty dark brown. Large, tan, creamy head lasted. Flavor is malty and medium sweet. Hints of choclate, nuts, and brown sugar. Finish is slightly bitter to start then sweet and chalky. Light to medium body. Thick. Lively carbonation. Overall, an ok Brown Ale, but not this brewer’s best beer. Aroma and taste are of rich malt and mild hops with some molasses and dark fruit. Medium carbonation. Short, malty ending. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2006 Dark ruby tinted brown. Soft, medium cap of fluffy tannish foam thats fastly dissolved to its skim and collar. Lacing is minimal in a few spots and strings.
Aroma is tenderly sweetened with a light roasted caramel/toffee with notes of vanilla, maple, and molasses.
Taste is solid with a firmly smooth maltyness of touch and go roasted hints under some fantastic solid tones of toffee, caramel, molasses, nuts, cocoa, and maple. Very firm and boldly set along the palate. Lengthy with just a breath of citric, piney hops towards the finish and lingers nicely with a moderate coating of toasted nuts and caramel.
Firm, smooth, medium body thats very fitting and easy going with a slick malty texture that screams to be drank. And by the pint full! A very solid brown. Holdwine (909), Beertimore, Maryland, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 1, 2006 Not bad, close to a porter with a lot of sweet caramel. More fruit on the tongue. A little watery, maybe that makes it very drinkable. Nice effort. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2006 Bottle. Ruby brown color with a light cocoa-coloerd head. Slight fruit, slight cocoa aroma. Caramel malt flavor with plum/cheery fruitiness and backing coffee tones. Medium bodied. csbosox (1082), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 18, 2006 12oz bottle served just a minute or two removed from the beer fridge in a Duvel tulip. Very dark brown color, short lasting khaki head. Aroma is malty, nutty, chocolate, brown sugar, a mild smokiness and herbal aroma. Smells good. The intial taste is malty, nutty, and woodsy followed by a mild bitterness that offsets the malt. The flavor is not overly complex, but very quaffable. The body is full, but not overly so. Enjoyable beer and a nice compliment to a bowl of chili.
