On tap at HDG. Deep dark brown in color with a little thin white head. Malty roasty aroma. Molasses nutty notes. Roasty malty flavor. Caramel roasty notes. Coffee like roast. Medium bodied. Finish is malty. Decent beer. Drinkable.

Bottle. Not sure who I got it from but cheers! Aroma dark roasted malts and molasses. Poured a dark brown with a very thin head. Flavor was much of the roast to burnt malt, molasses and what I would describe as sarsaparilla like flavor. Palate was even with the style. Overall I’d have to say it was good brew under the advertising scheme.

Loose bottle from Sam’s, Downers Gove. There’s pretty rich dark roast malt smell when opened and poured. Deep brown body under a thin but stable head. Taste is a bit medicinal, but it may be an older bottle. Dark and nutty otherwise, with a bit of molasses, coffee and sassafrass. Hops seem to be mostly American, although at times this tastes a little like a Young’s Old Nick. For a gimmick beer, this has some decent chracter, and can account for itself as a pretty good beer.

This had a small head.Color black.aroma was a mild malty.Tasted a bit sour.good stout taste.Not strong like the other black beers.Easy to drink,but I was hoping for more flavor.Not bad.

Thanks to Fatty. Pours a translucent darker brown with some red when held to the light. Head was small light tan. Aroma of some spices, nut and very light hop? Not much really. Same with the flavor. This was a really weak beer with not a whole lot to say about it. Maybe this bottle went bad?

Bottle pours a medium, light tan head. Aromas of coffee, similar to a porter. Rich, full, well balanced malty flavor of chocolate, with a really bright note lingering. Maybe a bit over-carbonated. At present I see I’m the highest rating on the page. Oy. I like it. So shoot me already.

Draft. Pours a reddish brown. Very thick and malty. This beer is pretty good, has a sugary aroma and tastes a bit nutty.

Pours to a red hued brown body with a very thick and lasting rocky light beige head. The aroma is a nutty, lightly floral, and brown sugar aroma. The flavor is interestingly roasty. Nutty but not overly so. Dry roast, sweet dark and lightly burnt sugars. The palate is roasty, creamy/velvety.
