Coffee, roast, and some grain in the aroma. Subdue malt flavor of coffee and roast. Light body with a slight carbonation tingle. OldRaspy (292), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2006 Poured from a 12 oz bottle a deep brown with a slight reddish tint and a small tan head. Aroma was of roasted malts and hops. Flavor was roasted (almost burnt) malts with a good hop finish (coffee like) as the beer comes up in tempature turns more towards a bitter chocolate. Overall not a bad brew. MacDaddyOJake (274), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 19, 2006 Very nice reddish-brown body. Pleasant aroma with a uniquely delicious nut-brown ale taste. Hop finish that was not overpowering, but heavily prevalent. Caramel flavors were also present. I was pleasantly suprised with this one. jerc (3911), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 15, 2006 Bottle. Ruby tinged brown body, small tan head. Malty aroma, touch of a nutty brown ale bite to it. Sweet malt has plenty of earthy nutty notes as well. Average palate. Not bad. Brewnosers Meeting. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 18, 2006 Very dark brown in color, just some red, with a thick, tan head. Aroma is milk, chocolate powder, caramel, and a nice, warm nuttiness. Flavor is not as good as the aroma. It is unidimensional and there is a chalky, hardwater character that distracts from the palate and flavor profile. Softer water could make this exceptional. Bockyhorsey (2528), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 10, 2006 Aroma has a decent roated malt backbone. Black body with decent head. Flavor is malty and somewhat weak. Malted water. Somewhat of a coffee aftertaste. To much malt not enough balance. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 6, 2006 Medium head. Very dark crimson, clear with worthy carbonation. Aroma is slightly sour, metallic. Taste is caramel, bitter leafy hops, subtle dark malts in the background really round out the palate. Finish is metallic, with caramel notes still hanging around. Nice flavor up front, the rest was a little off.
