| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 27, 2005 This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of fine to large sized long lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body contained average carbonation, was semi-transparent and dark brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of brown malts. Its mouth feel has a lingering malt bite in the finish. Its flavor contained dark beer brown malts notes. Good flavor but needs to be thicker. rotoguru (93), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 18, 2005 Pours a deep chestnut with a beige halo for a head. Smells of roasted malts, nuts, and slight floral hopping. Very roasted dark malt taste, light caramel, nuts, and a splash of coffee. The finish is dry and bitter. Okay.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2005 This one is better than the Genesis Ale. The aroma is toasted malt and resin hops. The appearance is a dark red brown with a medium head. The flavor is complex. It has coffee, molasses, caramel and oddly vegitables. The bitterness in the finish is just right. It’s like coffee with brown sugar. Good stuff. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Dec 12, 2005 12 oz brown bottle received as a gift and purchased at Sam’s, Chicago, IL. Spotted in the hilarious Schmaltz Brewery home website. Clear dark brown ale having small diminishing off-white head with spare lacing. Soft carbonation. Sweet malt, dried fruit and toffee aromas. Medium bodied that starts with light sweet malt, toffee, and toast flavors. Finishes dry with nutty malt aftertaste and tiny hop bitterness. This is a very good drinkable session beer. Thanks Deb! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 11, 2005 Lightly toasted malt and sign of nuts are found for the nose. Possibly the darkest brown ale I’ve seen or can remember of. Lot of sediment floating about and head had a short lived time span. Flavor is tad bit sweet with bitter aftertaste but a much more prominent nut flavor comes through then in the aroma. Perhaps almond or cashews.
