Clear brown with a medium glass-lacing head. Flavor has a little peppriness, caramel, toffee, and a hint of bitterness. Actually a decent brown, beats the hell out of Newcastle! | 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Mar 26, 2009 Translucent darker brown with some red when held to the light. Head was small light tan. Aroma of some spices, nut and very light hop? Not much really. Same with the flavor. This was a really weak beer with not a whole lot to say about it. Maybe this bottle went bad? This isn’t one of them. Lacked in flavor. Maltiness was very faint. Reminds me of Saranac brewery. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear mahogany with a lacy but scant tan head. The aroma is light, a bit nutty, with hints of caramel and chocolate. And a little alcohol. Medium body and fairly active carbonation. A bit of chocolate in the taste, then the lightly bitter finish shows up, along with some light acidity. Underwhelming. dwaggs2 (563), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA
