| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2009 12 oz. bottle for $1.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Clear, dark brown body with some slight ruby hints at the edges and a thin, ivory-colored head.
Smell: Roasty, nutty, chocolate water with a hint of caramel and spicy hops with just the faintest bit of citrus.
Taste: Pale malts with tastes of dark caramel, toasted nuts, and semi-sweet chocolate. Earthy, lightly citrusy hops with a medium-low bitterness; just enough to balance the malts. Thin, watered down roastiness and, well, finishes about the same. Lingering, mild chocolate flavor.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Just a hair over medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A fine, flavorful brown ale that remains keenly drinkable as well as reasonably priced. Slipstream (771), USA

This Jewish beer thing appears to be an attempt by Saratoga Mendocino to brew and sell some more beers. Nothing wrong with that. There is a funny mishmash of quotes on the label, including one from the play Fiddler on the Roof. To life to life, la khayim. This has a malty aroma that is sweet with floral hops. The flavor is malt with some citrusy acidity and peppy hops in the finish. A good brew. ROGUE (676), Newark, Delaware, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 28, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poured a brown body with a short livid off white head. Some lace.
Light aroma of caramel malts and brown sugar. Pretty solid malty brown here. Just some caramel malt with a slight roasted edge. Hops are not really sticking out at all. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a good amount of flavor. BeerGestapo (740), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 26, 2008 Brewed in the USA..... Pours a dark brown color with zero head. Aroma of dark malts, nuts, and a hint of caramel. Taste is of sweet chocolate, malts and brown sugar. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side and finishes kind of chalky. Overall, This brew is average yet very drinkable. Hank1980 (765), Athens, Georgia, USA

Taste is malty, with a little fruit. Pretty straightforward. Mouth is smooth and lightly carbonated. Easy drinking. Overall, a decent brew. Harsebrau (164), Kansas City, Missouri, USA

Malty smooth at the start turning tingly on the tongue wiht a finish that is a little bitter. Thin in the mouth. Beardface (1034), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 27, 2008 12 oz bottle from the Bier Stein. Malt odor to this but nothing more, no depth or complexity to taste either, malt and very overly carbonated. Brown pour with bubbles and almost no head to speak of. Disappointing since I was hoping for something a little "bolder" due to the name.
