12oz bottle. Brown with a lasting beige head. Vague toasted malt aroma with a light plastic-bag quality and some fruity, grainy sweetness. The flavor is just boring brown ale with sweet, light toffee, and some very lightly "nutty" roasty aspects. Low on the hops and bitterness. Med-light body with decent texture. Just a weird, almost cooked flavor overriding everything. Sadly, just another boring brown.

12oz. --> pint glass. Pours blackish brown. Holding up to a light I can almost tell that it’s actually clear. Brown head with swirls of tan linger on the glass like a coral reef that’s close to shore. Smoke and briny biscuit smells make me wonder if I’m about to sip an Islay Scotch, but not quite. Can I get a slice of pecan pie with this? The taste is like mocha with just a pinch of sugar. Roasted barleys, coffee and nut flavors are all over. Umami is here with a spray of salt. Medium body and creamy with lively enough carbonation. The finish is not too long, not too dry and not too bitter. I agree that this ale is ’bold’ but there really aren’t any envelopes being pushed here. I guess that’s why it comes in a easy six-pack. I get no comfort from the Kosher cert, but I’ll take this over Manischewitz any day. Compliments smoked Gouda cheese well.

A dark brown, almost black, pour with tan head. It has a roasted malt aroma with a hint of dark chocolate. The taste is semi-sweet and has a creamy texture. It has a soft medium body and a slightly bitter finish.

12oz Bottle: Dark brown w/ no head, kind of like flat Pepsi. Aroma is pretty weak, but there are some roasty malts present. Flavor starts w/ caramel fading into dark roasted malts w/ a hint of coffee. Finish is slightly bitter, a bit light, but not bad.

Very nice. Rich and malty, generally sweet with dark fruit flavors, but with a balanced dry hop finish.

A deep red beer with a fine but disappearing head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of roasted bread. The flavor is dominated by roasted malt with notes of wood and cowberries, before it ends on a dry note. It has a nice palate but tastes a bit like a nut porter.
