A touch of chocolate. Deep brown body with a sizeable beige head. A nice roasty flavor as well. I don’t get a lot of the nut. At least initially. It does come to the front as the beer warms. A nice nut brown, but still a nut brown.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 22, 2009 A deep red beer with a fine but disappearing head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of roasted bread. The flavor is dominated by roasted malt with notes of wood and cowberries, before it ends on a dry note. It has a nice palate but tastes a bit like a nut porter. fonefan (11525), VestJylland, Denmark

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 9, 2009 12oz bottle. Filtered with a deep dark brown hue with ruby hightlights. Off-white ring of head. Tootsie-Roll caramel toffee sweet malty nose. Deep cocoa aromas. Nice aroma. Pruny cola note. Medium to full bodied. Great malt flavor and a bitter dry finish. Initial malt note is bitter chocolate and coffee flavor and acidity. Smooth with a nutty character. Then the bitterness hits. Esters in the malt side. Rich and smooth. Bitterness ebbs as it warms. But it still hits the tongue with a punch of astringency. larryLSB (150), La Selva Beach, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 6, 2009 Poured from 12 oz., dark brown with small tan head. Nose of raisins, sweet malt, with just a bar hint of hops. Taste is cola like, easy to drink, not too memorable. SamGamgee (1436), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Nov 5, 2009 12oz bottle. Brown with a lasting beige head. Vague toasted malt aroma with a light plastic-bag quality and some fruity, grainy sweetness. The flavor is just boring brown ale with sweet, light toffee, and some very lightly "nutty" roasty aspects. Low on the hops and bitterness. Med-light body with decent texture. Just a weird, almost cooked flavor overriding everything. Sadly, just another boring brown. guyinchicago (526), marengo, Illinois, USA
