| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2007 This pours out of the bottle like thick old coffee, yet it manages to create an overflowing beige head. The ten hops used seemed to collide aimlessly in the aroma, because they smelled earthy and soiled. A slightly soured maltiness lay beneath the chaos. Certainly full bodied. The malts seem to fall into a mishmashed state in the flavor, because the brewer’s "10" theme works to produce a brown ale with some bittersweet chocolate and a hint of soured milk. The redemption to this hophead comes in the bitterness that grows as the drink progresses. Okay enough. y0cola (361), fremont, California, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 16, 2007 THOUGHTS: THis may have 10 malts and 10 hops, but the malt ruled. This is a big malty beer. But I guess you need all those hops to control the malt and make it so it isn’t sickly sweet. The weren’t very noticeable in the aroma, but they make the flavor very balanced. Very chocolate flavor and chocolate and caramel aroma. Great beer. This beer is part of why I constatnly try new beers — because every so often you find a great one. This is a truely underrated brewery. I even gave them an overall bonus point from trying something like this in the first place. Even though I’ve already said it, great beer.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was nearly black in the glass with a small light tan head that diminished quickly. The aroma was heavy caramel and chocolate malt and light hops. The initial flavor was moderate to heavy sweetness and light bitterness, while the finish was lightly sweet and moderately bitter with an average duration. It also hid the alcohol well. The body was medium to full and dry on my tongue but rytupy in the rest of my mouth. WISEGUY572 (1246), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Easy to drink. Easy to enjoy. Great nose of chocolate and espresso and dark roast. Almost black, very small brown head. I really like the flavor. Might get tiresome by itself but should work with spicey food or, even, with dessert. A sweet stout taste ... sweet chocolate, bitter espresso, sweet fresh strawberries (ok ... not really strawberries ... more the interesting combination of sweet and tart makes me think of berries, sort of like a Rodenbach Grand Cru), and a nice bitter finish. radagast83 (1302), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
