Jan 17, 2007 Nice dark beer w/ big tannish head. Aromas of tofee, chocolate, and a hint of almost floral like hoppiness. The flavor is deep and powerful, w/ a dominating chocoalte, coffee and roasted malt presence. There is a slight bitter hoppiness on the end, but it is almost all malt. A nice beer, but I enjoyed their other big beers better.

Jan 16, 2007 Wow, I honestly don’t know what this is, but I dig it. A Grand Cru on steroids? Maybe. It’s got some of the clove and raisin characteristics of a GC, but has a strong hop presence too (I’m getting this more than the roastiness others have noted). Nice and warm. Maybe it’s a bit too complex but a very worthwhile beer.

Jan 15, 2007 Bomber from Ledgers, Berkeley, CA; Nose of raisin pie, sweet fruity, and gooey; with some cloves and nutmeg; transparent, cherry brown, with a small but lasting tan head; flavor of dark fruits, alcohol, roastiness, and some coffee notes in the finish along with alcohol. Tastes like a belgian-imperial stout cross.

Jan 14, 2007 Poured a clear very dark chestnut color with a medium sized tan head. Sweet aroma of chocolate and prunes. The flavor was sweet and fruity with raisins and a moderate hop bite on the finish. The alcohol was somewhat present at the end but the beer was also fairly warm. Nice alc warmth in the chest.

Jan 14, 2007 Tap at Hop Devil Grill. Dark brown-black beer. Aroma is a bit molassey with light toastiness as well. Sweet rummy notes with raisiny sweetness and grape/plum fruitiness. A touch of mintiness toward the back. Earthy and spicy with a touch of sweet roast. Surprisingly subtle and lacking in bitterness. Lingering molasses on the back with more sweet fruitness. Pretty tasty brew, though.

Jan 13, 2007 Pours a deep brown hue with a slight off-white head. aromas of chocolate, roated oats, caramel. Flavors of the same with a light coffee note and a hint of licorice.

Jan 12, 2007 Bottle.Poured dark brown with medium head. Full bodied. A lot of strong flavors competing here. I enjoyed the hop flavor, stoutlike, overall flavor was a bit too strong in the soy sauciness for my taste.
