Flavors are sharp-alcholic dark fruits, nuts, char, lots of bitter char mixing with a heavy dose of alcohol. however, the alcohol adds some nice complexity to the whole mix. body is rich with medium carbonation. I think the brewery did well with this one. Cobra (1066), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2006 22 oz. bomber bottle. No freshness date seen anywhere. Poured out a deep brown, with ruby highlights This is one big, angry looking beer. Aromas are of toffee, Special B malts, raisins, dates, rum soaked dark dried fruits.
Flavors are of toffee, caramel malts, dried fruits, malts, and some coffee notes. Thick mouthfeel, rich & satisfying. Almost a meal in a glass. Decent hoppiness to it, bitter-sweet finish. Good beer overall. mreusch (741), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 26, 2006 Bomber; pours a bit like a stout, thick with a very dark black color and a nice dark tan head that slowly dissipates down to a thin but consistent veil; nice lacing. Pleasant aroma of currant, blackberry, cherry and roasted malts. Taste is a nice balance of hops and malt, some of the dark fruits come through, and a bit of warm alcohol in the finish; not overpowering but a bit distracting. Overall a nice strong ale; recommended. CapFlu (3483), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Creamy tan head with an opaque body. Nose is very dogfood with a minor prune-like finish. Flavour is strong with soya sauce and deep malts. Too sweet in my opinion. jcwattsrugger (5532), Florida and, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 26, 2006 22oz bottle-pours a big creamy light brown head that initially appears Guiness-like that laces and black in color with red tints. Aroma is sweet medium malt. Taste is alcohol, dark fruit, sweet medium malt. Later some chocolate/licorice notes appear. Comes across as a cross between I2PA and Barleywine. OK carbonation. breichow (17), USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 25, 2006 What a way to celebrate 10 years. In tulip glass from bomber. Multiple flavors (not sure if I would recognize all 10 malts and hops, but well blended). Nice finish. mbeem (104), New Hope, Alabama, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 24, 2006 Updated: Dec 28, 2006Mainly roasted malts and hops on the nose and all the characteristics associated with it along with some coffee textures. Too hoppy and not very well balanced IMO from what I’ve heard and read. A little better than Arrogant Bastard to me but if I want an over-the-top malty/hoppy brew, I’ll reach for a Terrapin Big Hoppy Monster in the future. NachlamSie (1644), Tennessee, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 24, 2006 Bottle. Pours rather dark mahogany, opaque and deep enough to look black in dim lighting. The head retention on this brew is excellent. The aroma is heavy and sappy with an ensemble of toffee, hockory, caramel, and light citrus. It’s fairly thick in the mouth, almost sticky at times. The flavor is assertive and boasts great strength with a heavy foundation of caramel, leather, rye bread, bacon, and many brighter notes of pine and smoky scotch. This brew’s finer points, though, I believe lie within the deep, malty richness. The flavors are huge and solid, the alcohol is nowhere to be sensed. This was really enjoyable!
