| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2008 Sweet. Bit of a double IPA mixed in. I drank a bit and I felt like going to shul. The pomegranate is holy! Feel the religion! Feel....oh wait. Not a bad beer. Like R.I.P.A but with fruit. Dorwart (1830), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 26, 2008 Decent sized frothy off-white head. Fruity aroma with some cereal, dry malts and some citrusy hops in the background. Color is a clear orange amber. Sickly sweet and malty flavor. More fruit (pomegranite I guess). Kind of a dry and slightly tart fruityness. Grainy and more citrus hops. Finishes dry and sugary. Not their best beer by far. I usually love the He’Brew beers but this one I will not be purchasing again. iowaherkeye (1877), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 24, 2008 Hand bottle from General_Gao, thanks Colin! Clear dirty orange with a half finger light beige head, fading to a thick ring rather quickly. Aroma had some earthy caramel and sweet fruit and grain--I can’t really make out the fruit, but I’d call it some type of melon. Flavor was a little stronger than the somewhat weak aroma had led on. Sweet earthy caramel is dominant with the same fruit--I’ve had pomegranate juice and other pomegranate beers, and this isn’t anything like them. Some herbally hops keep this from getting too sweet. Bitterness peaks around a 3 to 4 with some alcohol in the finish. Moderate to full body with low carbonation. This beer didn’t do it for me. badlizard (2386), Berkeley, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 21, 2008 650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Hazy copper brown with a fizzy tan head. Caramel aroma. Taste mildly of pomegranate, slight sugar, and a big bitter bite. Better than I’d expected. ratman197 (3262), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jan 19, 2008 Bomber poured a hazy copper with a minimal lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, fruitiness and som e woody notes. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of pomegranate, carmel and some woody notes with a smooth lingering bittersweet finish. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 19, 2008 22 oz bottle. Poured a slightly hazy amber color. Head was off white and reduced over a minute or so to a thin film. Malt dominated aroma with dark caramel and toffee elements. There was also some nondescript fruit which I presume represented the pomegranate. Allcohol and sprucy hops were also present. Sweet on the tongue and medium bodied. The flavors were a well balanced mixture of caramel, molasses, alcohol, crushed spruce needles, and pomegranate. The fruit was stronger in the flavor than it was in the nose. Seemed stronger than 8%. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 17, 2008 Orange pour with a decent white head. Slighty fruity hop nose. Flavor is strong, citrusy hops with a touch of pomegranate. Full malt backbone. Dry, bittersweet fruit finish. Not bad, but almost too rich to finish. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 15, 2008 22 oz. brown bottle, a humorous history lesson along the left side of the label, no bottling/freshness date, sampled in a tulip glass.
L: Cloudy orange hued bronze with a beige head of tight creamy foam. Settled nicely into a thin sudsy lacing, light amounts of small splotchy lace dots ring the glass.
S: Fruity blossoms, pomegranate juice and over ripen, moldy grapefruit with light backing of caramel and pale grains. The alcohol is barely noticeable, just a light spicy, estery quality.
F&T: Firmly smooth full bodied feeling in the mouth, well rounded and dryly crisp. Oily slick hops coat the tongue, citrus peel and resins of pine, finishing with a nice drying herbal spiciness. The pomegranate provides a nice sweet and sour juiciness to complement the hop tastes. You can tell that six different malts are being utilized, grainy, pale sugary, caramel, subtle chocolate, faint hints of coffee and brown bread.
I liked Origin, I thought it had that He’Brew uniqueness that I enjoy in their specialty ales. Pleasant and quite easy to drink, if this was on-tap I could see myself spending a night with this.
