The malt showed sweeter on the palate and drove the pomergranite off the flavor a bit. It finsished with a sense of smoothness. xav33 (313), Midland, MI, Michigan, USA

22 oz bomber
Moderate pour in a shaker
Poured a clear orange amber, with a peculiar slight red brightness to it, with a medium white fizzy mostly diminishing head.
Smelt of strong caramel and pomegranate.
Taste was upfront sweet caramel malt and pomegranate with a moderate bitter grassy hops and toasted grain followed by a strong bitter pomegranate flesh and toasted grain on an average to long bitter pomegranate finish.
Palate was medium bodied, creamy, lively carbonated and strongly astringent.
Overall, this beer captures the pomegranate taste very well, but it still somehow doesn’t work. Sometimes it feels too sweet from the strong caramel malt backbone, and sometimes it feels too bitter and a bit tart from the pomegranate. It just doesn’t work for me. Very interesting and unique though! whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Clear amber body and modest, filmy, off-white head. Sweet crystal malt aroma with cookie notes, brown sugar and light tropical fruit. Almost has a sweet Dogfish Head type signature. Strong malty flavor with spicy caramelization, lingering sweet fruit, substantial herbal bitterness, and warming alcohol. Novel concept, but a little rough, somewhat harsh even, and doesn’t come together to balance out. tgncc (845), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 10, 2007 Aroma is sweet, little bit of hoppines. The appearance is a nice red color, decent head. The taste is definite sweet, with a lot of pomegranite. The finish is suprising, in that it was noticeable hoppy, and long. Good beer overall. KnutAlbert (3217), Oslo, Norway

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 5, 2007 Updated: Aug 6, 2007Pours deep amber, a nice creamy head thins to a small cap, leaving spotty lace. A sweet malt nose with a muddy nondescript ester/fruit essence. Obviously sweet, but again a bit muddy, between malt and fruit, not subscribing to one nor the other. There is a decently thick bitter finish that coats the mid-back of the tongue. Very much a decent impy amber ale completely clouded by the addition of "poms".... the only contingency that is completely lost on me.... I drink pom juice frequently, and don’t detect any decisive notes of the fruit in this brew. Hangover (771), Atlanta, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2007 Light red pour with a nice head. Aroma is very malty with some caramel and light hops. Decent body, slightly creamy. Earthy malts, wood, some vanilla. I assume the pomegranites are what I taste towards the end. More like cherry or plum. Citrus/pine hops. Sweet finish, sticky. Hint of lingering alcohol. This beer is underrated I think. I really enjoyed it. I’m going to actually call it excellent. Not a fruit beer though. A fruity strong ale maybe. jstraw (777), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 29, 2007 Red amber with good head / Nose of hops and fruit/pomegranate / Medium body with big, dry, spicy finish / Flavors of burnt sugar, subdued pomegranate. Whether it’s the degree or type of hops used, there is a heat, spice, and astringency in the finish / A good effort but ultimately out of balance.
