Deep clear brown/red body, medium/thin buff head. Heavy caramel nose with dark fruit, toast, and hints of alcohol. Heavy, layered body with dark fruits, bitter toast, fig, and thick caramels. Earthy finish. After several sips, the fruity sweetness becomes a touch cloying. Overall, an interesting beer.

Bottle. Pours deep amber with a beige head. The aroma is caramelized sugar and raisin/fig. The flavor has fruity notes of raisin and fig, sweeter brown sugar notes, and a light boozy note. Not bad.

Dark amber with a medium beige head. Rich malt aroma and taste. Big alcohol presence. Very rich with lots of sugary dark fruit: figs, raisins. Complex and very pleasant.

dark and murky copper-ruby body, thin and short light tan head; fig; yes--fig; fairly carbonated, somewhat syrupy; bittersweet and balanced for what figginess it desires to be.

Pours a slightly-hazed, deep-amber (almost mahogany) into the glass, with a trace head and no real lace. Light figs, dates, dark fruits, maybe some sorghum and currants in the aroma.... all underdone, and not as complex as I make it sound (not bad, just not "that" complex). The flavor is somewhat underdone again, with figs predominating, and some faint alcohol notes underneath. There is a woody plumb to the finish (as a result of the hopping). Nothing is overt in this brew, and it was certainly not as I expected. Not bad, just not outstanding.
