Commercial Description:
Jewish tradition celebrates 2 New years; The 1st calendar month in spring historically came after the barley harvest. The High Holidays in Fall mark the creation of the world. Harvest to harvest - the perfect bookends for deliciousness! Arise noble Rejewvenator, infused for '08 with the sacred succulent Fig. O the history, O the shtick: Gen 3:7: "And their eyes were opened, and they knew that they were naked; they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons." Time to get cooking! "Professed Wrestlers and Champions were in times past fed with figs." -Pliny, Roman naturalist. Romulus, mythic founder of Rome, and his twin Remus were nursed by a wild she-wolf under a fig tree. In 1857, Queen Victoria commissioned an 18 inch plaster fig leaf to adorn her cast of Michelangelo's David. "The statue that advertises its modesty with a fig leaf brings its modesty under suspicion." -Mark Twain. Buddha gained enlightenment meditating beneath a fig tree. Zechariah/Micah: "Nations shall beat their swords into plowshares...all will sit with his neighbor under his fig tree, with no one to be afraid." Fear not Shmaltzers - Grab your Newtons, rub your happy belly, strap on your fig leaf and your championship belt, abd prepare to blow your shofar... tis a new HE'BREW Beer season to rejoice. L'Chaim! Brewed for Schmalt Brewing Co.

Bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a thick tan colored head that quickly recedes. Aroma is caramel, some spice and figs. Flavor is caramel malt, fig, raisins. Palate is medium to full bodied, medium to mild carbonation finished sweet yet with a slight dry finish. Decent.

Strong and lightly fruity malt aroma. Clear amber color with a medium tan head. Malty taste getting sweet towards the finish. Light amount of hops are noticeable but mostly masked by the malt. Creamy palate until the end were it starts to lighten up.

22oz bottle. Aroma of sweet fruits, fig. Red body with off white head. Fruit juice flavor that was too sweet and bitter for my palate.

Murky burgundy; thin head. Full and rewarding on the tongue. Rich malt flavors filled with molasses and toffee, plus a cornucopia of fruit flavors (fig, apple, pear, raisin). Nice amount of earthy-grassy hops to boot. Another tasty He’Brew.

22oz bottle-pours a light tan head and copper/red color. The aroma after the initial burst, is mild sweet medium/dark malt, dark fruit. Taste is sweet medium/dark malt-caramel/chocolate, roasty, dark fruit-fig/raisin, secondary hops bitterness. Semi dry finish. Medium body. Good carbonation. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for picking this out.

THOUGHTS: A nice beer. I usually love He’brew beers, but this isn’t nearly as good as most of their offerings. Reminds me of a watery or at least lighter Raison D’etre. Actually probably a great beer, but a sorta weak He’brew at the same time. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark red with a small tan head that fully diminished that left virtually no lacing. The aroma was raisin, apple, cherry and something else that must have been fig, along with some red wine, alcohol, moderate to heavy molasses and slight cereal malt. The initial flavor was light to moderately sweet and moderately acidic; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet, lightly acidic and moderately bitter with an average duration. There was molasses, what must be fig, but also raisin, apple, cherry, alcohol and then some hops right at the end. The light to medium body was syrupy and sticky on the lips with fizzy carbonation and a metallic, light astringent and light to moderate alcoholic finish.
