Heidrun Nevada Alfalfa Blossom Mead | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Commercial Description: Our Humboldt County (California) beekeeper takes his bee colonies on an annual pilgrimage to the verdant hills of Humboldt County (Nevada) to pollinate the vast fields of Alfalfa blooming there. Pollinated Alfalfa is grown for seed. The oldest forage crop in the US, Alfalfa is often called the "Queen of Forages" for its nutritive qualities and pleasant flavor. Not too suprizingly, mead produced from alfalfa honey displays wonderful notes of grass and honey. This latest batch of Alfalfa mead is modestly sweet and perfectly balanced. Bottling yeast contribute complexity to the aroma. Food Pairing: Delicious with raw or barbequed oysters, or alone as a celebratory toasting beverage.
