Commercial Description:
Those of you who have been with us for a while will recall our original, bottle-conditioned sparkling meads. These meads were similar to our present bubbly offerings except that the sediment from the bottle fermentation was not removed. They were more rustic and primitive, less processed, and, it so happens, very popular among local Heidrun fans. For the holidays we've brought back this bottle-conditioned style with a varietal named “Meadmaker’s Blend”. This dry, light-bodied, fully effervescent, amber mead has warming flavors of maple, malt, smoke and toast. It was produced from a special selection of honeys to satisfy our winter preference for libations that warm the heart.

Pale yellow with a tiny, white head. Vinous and cidre tones. High carbonation, vinous and acidic taste. Medium body with a dry, acidic finish.

From a C&C 750 ml bottle purchased from the North Coast Coop in Arcata, CA. This poured a cloudy light yellow color with a very tiny white head. Mouthfeel is very lively and tickles the tongue. The nose is strong of honey and alcohol. The flavor is also very alcoholic. There is a lot of honey of honey in the flavor, but this is offset by a sourness that makes the taste buds dance. A remarkable drink that is a bit of an acquired taste, and is very unique.
