Another one of the funny surprises at the Otown throwdown. The funny stopped at the name. Vile and putrid. Grainy and stank. Nasty and gross.

Courtesy fantomas. Pale gold, fizzy producing a voluminous white but short lived head. Funky corny nose and flavor with clean cobwebby and dusty malts. Dusty. Despite the clean fermentation profile and light body the adjuncty nose and finish makes for an intrusive and unrewarding experience. The claim to have revived the krausening practice but its not clear what positive effect this might have. I assume the beer is tank conditioned with active wort and then bottled? Or do they krausen, then filter, then force-carbonate and bottle? The label exhorts to Think Local Drink Local. An ironic command, given its owned by Pabst rather than the original G. Heileman Brewing Co., of La Crosse, WI. Even worse, Pabst is now HQd out of Texas rather than its historical base in Milwaukee. At best, this beer is contract brewed in Wisconsin by Miller, so in some way it has a connection to its home state.

I gave this a 1 because its the beer of the cubs. For a Milwaukee macro brew, i guess its better then a few others. Thin corny maltyness, no hops noticeable, great in a 30 case.

Don’t worry, Heileman’s, I won’t accuse Old Style of being pretentious (unless you agree to let me eat your tasty pussy in an alley). Easy to drink (almost too easy ... I’m thirsty and just feel like slamming the whole thing), bland with a hint of corn and tin or something. Sieg Heileman’s FTW.

Corn-like sickly sweet flavor. That is as nice as I can be, I had this on new years day, talk about hair of the dog.

Golden pour, styrofoam like head. Sweet, beer aroma. Tastes sticky, corny, awful. Makes sense that cubs fans love this beer.

Not too impressed but an easy beer to pound if you are a good burper. I swear that it is simialr to several other regional brews that SABMiller acquired
