Commercial Description:
This ale is as dark as Germany's Black Forest. There, our little Heinzelmännchen friends sought out dwellings vacated by their larger animal companions, then sipped on this smooth ale and stretched out to enjoy the rustling winds of the pine forest. Black Forest Stout, with it’s balanced roasted barley and caramel flavors and thick head deserve contemplation and savoring.

It is more like a double bock than stout, but the alcohol content is low due to state laws. Dark rich brown body with mid tan head. Chocalte, nut and caramel aroma. The taste is much lighter than most stouts but has a light velvet texture. I live down the street from one of thier breweries and i get a grolwer (2L’s) for 7$ a great deal. look forward to making this my daily brew.

Tap. Molasses malt aroma. Dark black-brown color with small head. Smooth chocolate-coffee malt flavor - easy drinking with next to no bitterness. A fairly light stout but one I could drink all day - doesn’t sit heavy on you like some stouts.

I live right down the street from the Heinzelmannchen Brewery, and i gotta say that is is nice. The Black Forest Stout pour dark, dark brown with a little off-white head. The aroma is not to strong, but it smells of barley. The tastes is chocolate and carmel with a smooth finish. Very nice beer

I live right down the street from the Brewery. Thanks to Deiter the Brewer. Growler, pours an almost pure black thin color. The head is light tan. Aroma is malty and sweet roast. Decent stout, very fresh, no preservetives

Semi-Opaque Dark Brown, with a tan head. Smokey, with notes of tobacco. Nice malty, fresh bread flavor, with hints of coffee and a dryish finish. Uncomplicated and perhaps a bit too understated. Sampled at the 2005 Asheville Brewer’s Jam.

Pours a dark brown/black with a medium off white head. Smells of mild roast and dark malts. Nothing exciting really, about as basic as it gets. The flavor was quite mellow, a little chocolate bitterness with a malty sweet aftertaste. middle of the road is the best way I can describe it. Medium bodied and lacking in some distinct flavors. Average.
