Aroma is light hops tanginess, crisp. Taste is light hops tanginess, crisp. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Aug 23, 2006 Draught at the brewery. Well, this is a fairly straightfoward pilsner. This really comes across as a light European thirst-quenching lager, hard to imagine this being an ale. It’s got some corn and mild hops in the aroma with a malt foundation of caramel. The sweetness over the palate is appealing enough and a bit of hop presence make this semi-interesting. It’s just too light to really excite me. shrubber85 (2833), Wallhalben, Germany Jul 4, 2006 Tap. Strong malt and hops aroma. Slightly cloudy golden yellow color with large head - a beautiful beer. Light sour lemon and mild malt flavor with a moderate hops finish. A great summer beer. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 29, 2005 Sample, on tap at the brewery. A clean drinking brew. Effervescent and mellow yellow. Nicely hopped, with a nutty component. Sturdy body, maybe even a bit pithy -- slightly more than medium bodied. Dryish, crackery malts, no vegetable components. Talked with Dieter, the brewer, for a good while and tried to pin him down a little bit on the style - Kolsch? Nope. He’s quite emphatic that it’s "Pilsener Ale". If it’s a good enough "category" for Deschutes Twighlight, then I guess it’ll fly for Herr Heinzelmannchen.
