Commercial Description:
Wandering in the Black Forest, a Heinzelmännchen met up with a Scottish lass and they shared their favorite ale recipes. This meeting created the perfect marriage of Scottish and German culture with this result: a Scottish style ale reddish brown in color, light in body and bursting with flavor. This slightly hoppy kilted gnome offers a clean, warming alcohol finish without the bitterness. Pair with haggis or schinken.

Draught at Nick & Nate’s. This pours dark cloudy brownish red. The aroma is of peat, caramel, cigar smoke. The first thing that hits my mouth: alcohol. It tastes like when a thermometer is swabbed with rubbing alcohol then inserted into my mouth to take my temperature. Now, there really isn’t any burning on the palate, though. I wonder if perhaps it is something else in the brew that causes the taste of ethanol. Not sure what to make of it. Beneath this cheap vodka taste are notes of burning leaf smoke, peanuts, thin caramel, some oak perhaps. But I just can’t get past the piercing flavor of well vodka, it gives me a headache before I can finish the pint.

Growler provided by Book-m-Dano. Pours mahogany-chestnut in color with a light white head. Sweet musty aroma with hints of peat and molasses. The flavor follows the aroma with peat, toasted malt, lightly sweet licorice, and a ginger cola finish. Medium round body. Not a bad brew.

Nice smoky malt aroma. Moderate brown with decent head. Smoked malt flavor blended with molasses with a very nice alcohol warming sensation that comes out in the end without any harshness. An extremely well made beer.

Light Brown, foamy head. Aroma of bread, but kinda tart, too. Smooth and mellow, with a cola-ish flavor and a hint of molasses. Thin bodied (in a good way) and quaffable. Not bad.
