ROGUE (621), Newark, Delaware, USA Dec 30, 2008 12oz bottle. Had this in 1997 with all of my hippy friends because it was made with hemp. Slightly better than the hempen ale but still not good. Thankfully it is not made any more so other hippies dont have to taste this evil gimmic. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Sep 12, 2008 Notes from The Other Ones ticket stub, Alpine Valley 1998- Gold pour with a big white head. Buttery wheat on the nose. Malty flavor. Bitter green finish omnivore (270), San Francisco, California, USA Jul 31, 2004 Buttery gold color, thin tan head. Wheaty/grassy aroma, strong taste of malt. Bitter strike with a grassy aftertaste. Nice. Panzuriel (992), Westerville, Ohio, USA Mar 24, 2003 Golden yellow color good head. Mildly happy aroma of nuttiness. Mild flavor with some hops and malt evident in the finish. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Jan 11, 2003 Light gold color. Foamy small head. Aroma is vanilla and buttery. A mild tasting golden ale. Malty and hoppy. As with the Hempen Ale I don’t notice any “mellow herbal flavor”. Mild malts and hops. Mild flavor. Very drinkable, but nothing special. Note that this bottle was a little old. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. jazz88 (2235), San Francisco, California, USA Jan 6, 2003 Bottle. A golden color with a foamy white quickly diminishing head. The aroma is quite nice with some vanilla, butterscotch, and nuts that foreshadows a cream ale. I am impressed given my expectations, and this is a beer worth drinking. A mellow nut and cream flavor. I can’t tell what the hemp would taste like. Not a great flavor but somewhat satisfying. pympynaynteazy99 (31), South San Jose, California, USA Oct 30, 2002 Maybe i’m crazy, but Hempen has kind of a creamy taste to me. Must be the hemp seeds. It isn’t the greatest beer, but it is better than most. Allseeingeye (223), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Oct 22, 2002 Hay yellow. Pretty big head melted quickly. Nutty flavor. Watery palate. Some herbal flavors. Ehh.
