I wasn’t expecting much of this weak Sussex ale at 3.5%. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It was nice and hoppy, dry and had a biscruity maltiness. Good. StueyD (590), King’s Lynn, Norfolk, Norfolk, England Feb 26, 2007 A mid amber gold coloured beer with a thickish white head. A light, hoppy nose, with a hint of biscuity malt. The taste is dry and bitter, the biscuity malt flavour is reminscent of “Rich Tea” biscuits!!, then a slightly weak, sweetish finish. (Bottle - courtesy of Edd @ The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk, who collected this, amongst others, during a trip to Horsham). fonefan (4468), Ulfborg, Denmark Dec 7, 2006 Cask @ The Roebuck, Hampton Hill (London). Golden color with lasting white head. Aroma of yeast and hops, flowers. Hoppy dryness in the fininsh. Easy drinking harrisoni (5129), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 5, 2006 500ml bottle from Cask & Glass, Tonbridge. Golden with lasting white head. Yeast/ hop aroma. Yeast is a bit like Sheps, but the hop is quite floral. Fine in mouth. Hoppy dryness on end. Bit thin on flavour, no real fruit or malt. Some rose petal I guess on the end. Easy drinking session bitter with enough hops to keep you interested. Bit one dimensonal, but for a 3.5% beer, I thought it pretty good. kwik-lime (160), London, England Jun 5, 2005 Had it from a beer tent at cricket so probably not in the best possible condition. Nonetheless I found it pretty uninspiring. Slightly more bitter than I expected and over-carbonated although with some decent hop character. Appearance wise if I hadn’t watched them being poured I’d have struggled to tell it apart from my friend’s pint of Fosters.
