Commercial Description:
Our version of the Dry Irish Stout style that is served nitrogenated, so it will take a little longer to pour. This ale is black in color with a thick off white head. This beer contains lots of roasted barley which imparts the dark color, coffee flavors and a distinctive dry-roasted finish. This beer contains a high amount of hop bitterness and bitterness imparted from the roasted barley, and no hop flavor or aroma.

A dark dark brown with a creamy brown head. Roasted malts on the aroma with a decidedly dry finish. roasted malt character, with the faintest, ever so faintest hint of pitted fruits.

This was a decent dry stout. Aroma was weak but could pick up roasted malt. Pour was a deep dark brown with a two finger tan head. Taste was typical nitrogenated draft. Very thin mouthfeel...no carbonation and an almost chalky roasted malt character. Some coffee comes out as it warms. Not bad for the style.

On nitro draught at the Wausau brewpub location, pours an opaque dark reddish brown brew with a creamy beige head that has some excellent lacing and retention from the nitro charge. Aroma of toasted dark malt, a touch of coffee, and smoked wood. Taste is full bodied, smooth, creamy with flavors of toasted dark malt, a touch of coffee, vanilla, flowery hops and even some lactose. Finish is smooth and creamy as its flavor with a semi-sweet toasted malt aftertaste. Looks like the Wausau brewed stout has more flavor than the Cranberry, PA location.

12/27/07 - Winter Road Trip ’07 - Draft sample at brewpub. Dar black with amber hues. Coffee colored head, foamy and long lasting. Good lacing. Roasted coffee nose, a bit sweet. Big roast character, little bitterness. Run-of-said-mill, but not bad. Drinkable, sessionable, pretty watery. Eh.

On tap. Rich coffee chocolate nose, with smoky bitterness, sesame seed bitterness, and dusty grain. Dark black clear with creamy tan lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with smooth carbonation. Starts dry with carbonic tang and watery coffee notes. Not a huge taste profile, subdued and dry. Light chalky bitter finish and after.

Pours black with a long-lasting thick tan head. An aroma of black coffee and bitter chocolate. Not really any sort of hops detected. Tasted a lot like a smoked coffee with a bitter dry finish. There were some notes of chocolate and roasted malts as well.

On tap at the Wausau brewpub on 6/24/07: Pours an opaque black with a dense, creamy dark tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet and very roasty dark malts. Body starts fairly full with nice dark earthy roasted malty sweetness and some good bitter dark chocolate flavors lingering in the finish. A nice dry stout.
