CharlesDarwin (1822), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA May 28, 2008 On tap at the Escanaba brewpub. Hazy, cloudy opalescent orange-tinted straw pour, with a rim of white. Noses in distant
lemon (thanks slice). Flavor is a rather flaccid wet wheat sugar and bland white sugar
flavor. Not much there. Light alcohol, light sweetness, light lemon fruitiness. This is
nothing to get whipped up about. There’s a curt little bit of sourness, but really, really
faint. This is more of a beginner beer than the blond. Faint gummy hop glow finishes this
example. Somewhat thin bodied. Boring. LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 16, 2008 I’m a sucker for a good wheat beer when it’s warm out and this was a nice one. Aroma was a little weak but could pick up some citrus. Pour was a nice light gold with a 2 finger white head. Nice and cloudy. Taste was very crisp and refreshing. Citrus with a bready/yeasty backbone and a nice dry aftertaste. Good carbonation carries the flavor throug. Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 5, 2008 Hazy golden pour with a light frothy head. Has the aroma of citrus and coriander... and something else I wasn’t really able to identify, but not good. It was sweet with some spice and just a hit of bitterness, maybe pine? Not a whole lot of carbonation and it was pretty light. Great for people who like Blue Moon and Leinie’s but not my style. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 28, 2007 12/27/07 - Winter Road Trip ’07 - Murky yellow w/ orange hues. Big white head, frothy w/ good lacing. Skunky nose w/ banana and citrus, hint of spice and sewer. Thin, fruity taste w/ mild, crisp hop finish. Banana and citrus, spiciness is limited. Ending is a bit muddled w/ skunk/sewer flavor. Eh. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 27, 2007 On tap. Mild fruity aroma, light orange oil and sulfury acidic tang. Cloudy golden dull amber with thin foamy lacing head. Light body with light-medium carbonation. Starts with watery wheat taste, light grainy undertones and mild orange-sulfur notes. Mild bittering in the finish with dusty grainy after, chalky bubblegum hints, and a light acidity. Not a bad American wheat, definitely more flavorful than others I’ve had. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Dec 27, 2007 On draught at the brewpub in Wausau, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-hazy straw brew with a fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a thin white ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of white bread dough, some flowery hops, and a touch of pear fruit. Taste is light to medium bodied, light carbonation with a distinct bread dough and yeast flavor. Finish is slightly sweet, a little watery and then a clean cut finish with no aftertaste. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 18, 2007 On tap at the Wausau brewpub on 6/24/07: Pours a transparent golden with a thin, frothy white head. Aroma of lightly pale malt and a hint of wheat along with mildly earthy hops. Body starts with decent mouthfeel and a touch of sweetness and grainy malt with some earthy bittering hops toward a drier finish. Overly bitter, needs more sweet balance. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 06/24/2007
